Bio

Adrian Verkouteren was born and grew up in the Washington, DC. metropolitan area. During high school he studied theory and composition with Leo Sowerby and wrote several short choral pieces performed at the Washington National Cathedral.

While in college and since, he has continued to write liturgical music as well as music for the theater. In 1969, he wrote music, book, and lyrics for the musical Christmas play Come, Good Shepherd and in 1971 wrote music, book, and lyrics for James, the Dragon Slayer, based on Heywood Broun’s "The Fifty-First Dragon." In 2012 he wrote music for Where In The World: the Untold Story of Camilla Sanfancisco, winner of Best Overall Show at DC's Capital Fringe Festival.

He is a member of ASCAP, the Dramatists Guild, and Playwright's Forum.
